Summary

CRT popularity continues to grow. With that in mind we've provided a few links that consolidate recent reporting on the PGDC, a link to calculations and a guide.

Recent Reporting

Interest in charitable remainder trusts continues to rise according to David Wheeler Newman. Mr. Newman has seen CRTs continue to rise in popularity due to the increase in the value of the stock market, some business acquisitions, and in a few cases involving large real estate transactions. He sees continued growth as people become more aware of the net investment income (NII) tax. In May of this year Mr. Newman wrote an article for the PGDC titled Rebirth of the Charitable Remainder Trust. Another read of this article is in order.

In January of this year Richard L. Fox, Esq. reported on the Final Regulations Make Changes to Application of 3.8% Medicare Tax on Net Investment Income to Charitable Remainder Trusts and Wholly Charitable Estates, an excellent analysis of this piece of the puzzle.
